Fixing common MetaTrader 5 errors
Last updated September 13, 2026
"Not Enough Money"
This means your free margin is insufficient for the position you are trying to open. To resolve it:
- Check your available equity and free margin in the Toolbox
- Use the margin calculator to work out what the trade actually requires
- Reduce the volume, close an existing position, or deposit additional funds
See Understanding leverage and margin for how the requirement is calculated.
"Common Error"
This is usually temporary. Work through the following:
- Restart the platform.
- Check your internet connection.
- Right-click in the Market Watch or navigator and select Rescan Servers.
- If it persists, temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall to confirm whether it is blocking the connection.
"No Connection"
- Check your internet connection.
- Select Rescan Servers.
- Check your ping to the server.
- Make sure MetaTrader 5 is excluded from your firewall and antivirus.
The connection status is shown in the bottom-right corner of the desktop platform. If it reads "No connection" while other applications reach the internet normally, the cause is almost always local filtering — a firewall, antivirus, VPN or corporate network policy.
Still stuck?
Open a support ticket from your dashboard or email [email protected]. Include your MT5 login, a screenshot of the error, and the contents of the Journal tab in the Toolbox for the time the error occurred — that log is what lets us identify the cause quickly.
